Orkney ahoy?

Its getting to that time of year when we begin to look around to what’s going to be happening in the archaeological world over the summer months. We were excited to hear that the excavations at the fantastic Ness of Brodgar site are going to be running for 8 weeks over the summer – from July 8th to August the 28th. Not only that, but if you miss the excavations there’s going to be an exhibition at Stromness Museum from April to October featuring some of the art and artefacts already found on the site!

Stromness Museum

The Ness of Brodgar is an outstanding site, even by Orcadian standards, and excavations have revealed an extensive network of structures dating to the Neolithic. Over the past few seasons, the site has radically changed our understanding of the Neolithic in both Orkney and the rest of Britain. Full details of the site can be seen on the project website here:  http://www.nessofbrodgar.co.uk/welcome/4582383240
